Recent History of Jackson, TN WeatherBetween 1999-2008, Jackson/Madison County seemed to be ground zero for devastating storm damage in west Tennessee. In that time, no less than six tornadoes rated EF-3 or EF-4 passed through the
county, perhaps most notably the Union University tornado on Super Tuesday 2008. These twisters killed 20 and injured more than 250, though remarkably no one perished in the Union tornado. |
About JWN |
JacksonWeather.net grew from the need to provide west Tennesseeans, and specifically those in
the Jackson area, with a website that was devoted specifically to providing weather information that was current, accurate, and reliable. In summer 2009, Erik Proseus took over ownership and upkeep of JWN from the previous owner, Eddie Holmes, who had painstakingly built JWN into a highly-regarded and well-known site. |
About Erik |
Erik is a degreed meteorologist and owner of Cirrus Weather Solutions, LLC, a private meteorological
firm based in the Memphis suburb of Bartlett. He has made Mid-South weather his career, hobby, and passion for over 20 years. This amount of time spent in the region he serves, experiencing all of the weather that the Mid-South has to offer, has translated into an exceptional product for visitors to JWN. |
About Cirrus Weather Solutions, LLC |
Cirrus Weather Solutions, LLC opened for business on February 5, 2010, which (not coincidentally) was National Weatherperson's Day and the two-year anniversary of the Super Tuesday Tornado Outbreak. Strong tornadoes on that Presidential primary election day devastated Union University and surrounding parts of Jackson, TN.
It was an appropriate day to officially commence operation of a business devoted to keeping Mid-Southerners safe and informed on weather patterns that affect the region. That is, and has been, our goal since day 1. |
